7 Board positions are up for election this year due in part to our new bylaws raising the number of potential Board Members to 12. All are in General Director positions. (Note: All our Chapter officers including President (Brad Jenkins), Vice President (Laura Camp), Treasurer (Jennifer Mabley), and Secretary (Nancy Heuler) are in the middle of their two year terms this year.)
Three (3) Current Board Members (Sarah Jayne, Richard Schilk, and Dan Songster) are up for re-election. The following four Candidates (Cathie Field, Mike Field, Rob Moore, and Ron Vanderhoff) are first time board nominees and so a short biography (Alphabetically listed) for each follows:

Cathie Field
Cathie was born and raised here in Orange County, Graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1967 and Retired in 2002.
She is a lifelong gardener who earned a Certificate in Landscape Design from Saddleback College. Cathie is interested in the preservation and restoration of wilderness areas as well as the artful use of California natives in urban landscapes. “In other words, making California more California.”
Hobbies: Bicycle riding, motor-home travel, and California natives.
Mike Field
Born and raised in Orange County Graduated from Santa Ana Valley High School in 1964, served in U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 and Graduated from CSU Fullerton – 1973.
Mike started and managed a successful business from 1978 to 2002 when he also retired.
“I would like to help CNPS become more of a vehicle in promoting the endless list of opportunities and benefits California Natives can provide to the community.”
Hobbies: Bicycle riding, photography, motor-home travel and California natives.
Rob Moore
A fourth generation Californian, Rob grew up in the foothills of San Diego County.
His background is strongly horticultural with work in industry in the 1980’s leading to a focus on native plants in 2005/06 graduating from Fullerton College with a Certificate in Landscape Design after studying ornamental landscape design specializing in drought tolerant plants.
He also completed a design course with landscape architects Anna Armstrong and Richard Walker at the Theodore Payne Foundation in Los Angeles, and shortly afterward decided to work exclusively with California native plants
He started his own company California Native Landscape Design, has designed California Native themed gardens in our 4 local counties, lectures locally, and has published articles in journals including the October 2009 and January 2010 issues of Fremontia (The Journal of California Native Plant Society).
Three Gardens he designed were featured in Orange County Chapter, California Native Plant Society's garden tour this year, one of which won "Best Native Garden" in Roger's Gardens' California Friendly Garden Contest 2011.
Ron Vanderhoff
Ron Vanderhoff is a lifelong southern California gardener, and a respected professional horticulturist.He has served on several non-profit boards and for the past several years he has been a leader in the local gardening community as an educator, writer, lecturer, and innovator, and as the nursery manager at Roger’s Gardens where he leads a push for sustainable gardens in Orange County, the California Friendly Garden Contest (in which OC-CNPS is a partner) is an example of this effort.
Ron is especially fascinated with our native flora and its potential for use in urban landscapes. Ron also writes a popular weekly newspaper column, The Coastal Gardener, and has contributed to many newspaper and magazine articles as well as radio and television programs. He is a special contributor to The Sunset Western Garden Book.
Ron has recently accepted a position of service to our Chapter as Field Trip Chair, and if you were here for his talk last month you know we have good things in store.
